What
We're migrating our internal content authoring and management system from Nuxt 2 to Nuxt 4, adding server-side rendering (SSR) support, and integrating AI chat capabilities powered by Anthropic's Claude and our internal ScholarBot tools. This is a full-stack modernization that brings the platform onto current framework standards while introducing AI-assisted authoring workflows.
Why
Nuxt 2 reached end-of-life in June 2024, leaving the current system unsupported, accumulating security risk, and increasingly difficult to maintain as dependencies drift out of compatibility. Beyond the technical debt, authors today work without the productivity tools that have become standard — AI assistance for drafting, summarizing, tagging, and aligning content to standards. Moving to Nuxt 4 unlocks a modern developer experience, better performance, and access to the Platform Layers ecosystem. SSR improves page load times, SEO for any externally-visible content, and the perceived responsiveness of heavy authoring views. The AI chat integration turns the system from a passive repository into an active collaborator, letting authors surface institutional knowledge through ScholarBot and get drafting help from Claude without leaving the tool.
Success Looks Like
Success looks like authors doing their work faster and with less friction in a system we can confidently maintain for the next several years. Concretely: feature parity with the Nuxt 2 system on day one of cutover, measurable improvement in page-load and time-to-interactive metrics from SSR, adoption of the AI chat by a meaningful share of active authors within the first quarter post-launch, and zero critical incidents during migration. Longer-term success means the platform becomes the foundation other internal tools extend, rather than a system teams route around.
Who's It For
The primary users are our internal content authors, editors, and curriculum specialists who create and manage learning content day-to-day. Secondary users include the engineering teams who maintain and extend the platform, and the downstream product teams whose applications consume this content. The AI features are aimed especially at authors doing research-heavy work — those who benefit most from having ScholarBot and Claude a keystroke away rather than a tab away.
